WHO WE ARE

Sunnyvale residents enjoy the benefits of small town living combined with access to the thriving business, cultural and social districts of the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex. A quiet, scenic, and family-oriented community, the Town of Sunnyvale’s 16 square mile jurisdiction is less than 50% developed and characterized by custom, estate, and ranchette residential living.  Sunnyvale is located  on US Hwy 80, a mere 3 miles east of the I-635 Loop, 15 miles east of downtown Dallas in Dallas County, approximately 24 miles from Dallas Love Field (DAL) Airport, and approximately 36 miles from Dallas-Fort Worth (DFW) International Airport.  Sunnyvale is conveniently located next to Lake Ray Hubbard.  

QUALITY OF LIFE

Sunnyvale is characterized by its rural environment, low density, high quality living and small town atmosphere. As the community continues to grow, Town residents and leaders have outlined a vision to maintain the current standard of living, encourage large lot, high end development and preserve the open space and rural character that define Sunnyvale. Additionally, Lake Ray Hubbard, a recreational reservoir owned by the City of Dallas forms the eastern boundary for Sunnyvale.  The lake boasts 6 major marinas and fishing facilities on the lake, and is widely known for its excellent sailing features. With the expansion of the SH-190 toll road located just west of the lake, this area will become a vibrant Lake Front District. Public and private recreational opportunities are available within the community. Residents enjoy their acreage for horse riding and other activities, and the Town prides itself on open space and becoming a livable, walkable community.

EDUCATION

Served by the Sunnyvale Independent School District, its mission is to provide the highest quality education by creating life-long learners through comprehensive academic, athletic, cultural, and extra-curricular opportunities for the children of the community. Sunnyvale ISD is recognized as an Exemplary school district and has earned an Exceeds Expectation rating on its Community-Based Accountability System Report.

BUSINESS PROFILE

Sunnyvale enjoys a solid industrial base with manufacturing centers as well as a regional medical center, commercial and retail development. Currently, The Town of Sunnyvale is home a number of companies providing jobs and a tax base for the town. Sunnyvale also enjoys prime areas for future development of retail, commercial and industrial sites along the US Highway 80, Belt Line Road, Clay Road, and Collins Road corridors.
